The museum was created by a local voluntary group, the Guild of Handicraft Trust, with generous financial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and it opened to the public in July 2007. The barn has been beautifully restored, and a state-of-theart permanent exhibition has been installed among its ancient trusses. The exhibits, some of which were lent by the Victoria and Albert Museum, range from the Edwardian elegance of C. R. Ashbee’s silverwork and jewellery to the functionalism of Robert Welch’s stainlesssteel cutlery and industrial designs, from the visionary architecture of F. L. Griggs’s etchings to the down-to-earth jugs and bowls of the Winchcombe Pottery. There is something at Court Barn for almost every taste, and a children’s corner too.
