An Accident Waiting to Happen

Traffic
5 days a week at roughly the same time (when school finishes) the traffic in Campden becomes ridiculously busy for obvious reasons…but what is more frightening is the speed the buses come at you as you meander through the traffic, often not giving a blind bit of notice as they scrape past you. I just have a gut feeling that there is an accident waiting to happen and something should be done to address the traffic flow between 3pm and 4.30pm. On a sunny day when the tourists arrive (yay!!) it’s even worse! It needs to be addressed…

Unfortunately traffic in Camdpen is always going to be a problem. You are right in stating that traffic during those times is bad in Campden, it’s Campden’s rush hour! One solution might be to not allow parking during those peak times in the high street, however the main carpark would thne be full up and ultimately local trade would suffer. Ideally Campden needs another car park but the problem is where?! If it was built into the rec redevelopment this would then reduce the space available for recreational purposes….anyone else have any ideas?
A car park would not help – the problem is caused by lazy, idle parents who insist on driving as close as possible to the school their darlings are at to pick them up without them having to wear their shoes down. Does the times stated not coincide with this? The reason it lasts until 4.30 is that they then have to spend the rest of the afternoon chatting with all the other parents, so that they can block the roads and gateways for even longer. It’s not just a High St problem – come and look at Cherry Tree Close and Pear Tree Close any school day at 3pm. Get the Civil enforcement officers here I say and book each one every day until they get the message!!!
