Tennis and Light Polution in Campden

Light Pollution

Well I have seen the new plans for the recreatin ground in Campden but have a point to make. It would appear that the tennis club has no means to expand its facilities given the location of the hockey pitch….not only this, if the tennis club did expand, this would add to the existing light pollution caused by the flood lights.

Yes, the lights are a problem if you’re out walking late at night but is it that much of a problem? Perhaps some trees could be planted to help prevent some of the light. Does it affect any of the locals to that degree, I haven’t read about it in the Bulletin ever.

I think these miserable people who complain about a few lights should move to the Sahara Dessert where they wouldn’t be subjected to the curse of electricity. Does trying to keep fit have to end with daylight hours? I don’t think so. The lights are hardly on all night, it’s for a little while in the evening on dark nights, so that people can get a bit of fresh air and exercise. I bet these whining, moaning people are the same ones as have to collect thier little darlings from the school gates, depriving them of exercise too, and causing more damage to the environment, as well as local bad feeling!

You have a point Pammie – tennis player at all?  There are some locals who do not like change.  The lights are bright, but if they weren’t they wouldn’t be doing their job right?  As you say, they are only for a few hours in the week and I think that people who haven’t experienced it, should go down to the club and enjoy the fun that those lights provide!
