Refuse

Is anyone able to shed some light on when our refuse might be collected?

“Editing” in the bulletin

I dont know about anyone else but i have had enough of the editing style in the bulletin. The comments and language betray the biased prejudices of the editor and none of the facts.  For example in the most recent article the editor describes the members of the Campden society as vandals! He then goes on to suggest that Griggs, the founder of the society would turn in his grave over the societies plans to build a car park on an old Orchard!
First and foremost the society is clearly not led by vandals because the vast majority of the site is being preserved for the school to use. Secondly Griggs built his own house on Kingcombe lane on an Orchard! Thirdly it sounds to me like there are no plans to build anything on the orchard without the members voting. I for one think a new surgery is vital for the town!  I think the “editor” needs to curb his language and get his facts straight

St. Modewen’s Master Plan for Long Marston

Stratford’s planning committee met last night at Stratford Town Hall (Sheep Street) to decide on St Modwen’s ‘Masterplan’ planning proposal at Long Marston. The whole hybrid proposal has been recommended en bloc for approval by the planning officers of Stratford District Council. St Modwen will go ahead with this proposal if the Ecotown does not get government approval (decision on this still with the Housing Minister).

The joint parish working group that have been looking into the proposal are against it, particularly the proposed 500 houses (in addition to the 300 holiday homes, employment and leisure sections) which we feel are unsustainable and contrary to policy CTY18. Joan Matthews (Long Marston) and Mike Walsby (Quinton) plus Mike Brain (Ward Member) and Andy Murphy (Stansgate Planning) will all be speaking against the proposal.

What are your thoughts on this matter?…How will this affect/advantage to Campden?

The Way Forward

The Chipping Campden Area Partnership was formed in 2004 to write a community plan for our town identifying priorities for the future.  “The Way Forward” is now nearing completion.  The Action Plan will be published in its final form once you, the members of the local community, have had the opportunity to comment. We want to ensure that the final action plan reflects the needs of the whole community.

Please take the time to read it and provide your comments below on this Blog where they will be read by all official bodies and local community.

An Accident Waiting to Happen

Traffic

Traffic

5 days a week at roughly the same time (when school finishes) the traffic in Campden becomes ridiculously busy for obvious reasons…but what is more frightening is the speed the buses come at you as you meander through the traffic, often not giving a blind bit of notice as they scrape past you. I just have a gut feeling that there is an accident waiting to happen and something should be done to address the traffic flow between 3pm and 4.30pm.   On a sunny day when the tourists arrive (yay!!) it’s even worse!  It needs to be addressed…

Tennis and Light Polution in Campden

Light Pollution

Well I have seen the new plans for the recreatin ground in Campden but have a point to make. It would appear that the tennis club has no means to expand its facilities given the location of the hockey pitch….not only this, if the tennis club did expand, this would add to the existing light pollution caused by the flood lights.

Plastic Rubbsh Atrocities

Please Dont!

Please Don't!

I am constantly appauled whenever I come across rubbish left by people in the countryside. In my opinion they are so un-deserving of having the pleasurable experience of the countryside if all they have to do in thanks is leave their plastic bags, rubbish and bottles strewn all across our beautful Cotswold scenery…all those in favour say aye!

Paving Replaced

Improvements

I’m sure we were all pleased that the cracked and slippery paving on the High St. was finally replaced.

But who was responsible for the choice of the very basic concrete pavers chosen for this work?  Surely Campden’s exceptional High St. deserves genuine paving stones – in the central section at least. (more…)

The Bulletin

There is no question that the bulletin can be a  good read when it sticks to impartial relevant topics. However, it regularly harrasses an elderly resident of Campden for wasting public money, despite more money being wasted on  Planning objections by other busy bodies supported by this rag. It openly printed an irrelevant racist article as a response to a letter from an Asian council officer, and it regularly prints vile and nasty responses to other people’s letters if they go against the flow. Yes, if you were the kid in the playground who stood giggling, watching the bullies picking on people, I can see why this rag appeals. (more…)
