The Town Council’s draft Neighbourhood Development Plan is published.  The Plan has been produced by the Town Council and local volunteers under the provisions of the Localism Act to provide a vision for the Town’s future.

An Exhibition  between 10am and 6pm and a Public Meeting at 7.30pm has been arranged for Friday 21st April in the Town Hall where you can raise questions and make comments.  In addition, comments can be sent by email to

Both the Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) and the Community Design Statement are available on the Town Council website and hard copies are situated in the Library and The Court Room in the Old Police Station.

The NDP covers the key areas of the Environment, Housing, Economy, Education, Health, Infrastructure, Transport and Parking.

Chipping Campden’s unique history, architecture and landscape are very valuable and housing development is given major prominence in The Plan. Key policies, which to a degree conflict with planning policy promoted by the Cotswold District Council are:

  1. Organic growth of small sites of up to 10 houses, allowing integration into our community and minimizing the risk of irreparable damage to the town and our landscape.
  2. Protection of our Development Boundary to minimize opportunistic and inappropriate development.
  3. Housing development based on well proven need.

Other high profile issues included in The Plan are parking and surgery provision.

Complementing the Neighbourhood Development Plan is the Community Design Statement which encourages a high standard of design and use of appropriate materials in all development projects.

We look forward to your participation and hope that you will support the proposals which we hope promotes our future and defends the qualities of our unique Market Town.
