Changes to Council Services

Government announced on 5 January 2021 that we are now in national lockdown and everyone must stay at home unless they have an exception – you can read more on the restrictions here. We continue to work hard to keep people safe whilst keeping our services running, but there are updates now that restrictions have changed again.

  • Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) stay open with bookings.
  • Schools are now closed apart from for vulnerable and key worker children.
  • Early years settings remain open.
  • Receptions will only be open for urgent and unavoidable appointments.
  • Libraries will continue to offer click and collect services and public PC sessions for those with no access to technology. Opening hours will be changing to make sure your local library can continue to open safely. All changes to opening hours at your local library can be found online.
  • Registration services remain open for birth and urgent Notice of Marriage appointments – death registration appointments will be undertaken by telephone only.
  • Weddings and civil partnerships can only go ahead in exceptional circumstances with a maximum of 6 people in attendance.
  • Citizenship Ceremonies will continue to take place.
  • Gloucestershire Heritage Hub (Archives) will be closed.
  • The Adult Education service will continue to help its students digitally.
  • Colwell Arts Centre – instrument hire for click and collect will continue.
  • Skillszone will be closed.
  • Home visits will only continue where there is a safeguarding need or digital options are not possible.
  • Support group can meet where there is a safeguarding need and digital options are not possible. For example for domestic abuse. Strict national guidance to be followed and they cannot take place in private homes.
  • Adult day centres will support vulnerable people where there is demand.
  • All highways activities such as fixing potholes, resurfacing roads and other repairs are continuing as normal. Routine maintenance and gritting roads in icy weather will also continue. Parking enforcement will continue as normal.
  • Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service will continue to assist the Ambulance Service.

Our other services will continue to be provided with the majority of staff working from home.
