Email Scam Beware

Mar 24, 2020

There is an e-mail scam doing the rounds, so we have had the following given to us from the police – please beware:

Please can I make you aware of an internet email scam that has been brought to our attention.

With the pending changes to the TV licensing, emails have started being received asking for details to set up direct debits, going on to say that it will allow for reactivation from March. The email requests a number of personal & banking details.

According to the official TV Licensing website the current date given for the end of free licences is August 2020. Up to date information and great advice on how to spot possible scams can be found on their website www.tvlicensing.co.uk

This email is obviously targeting those over 75 Years old, most of whom are already aware of the up coming changes and could consequently be more likely to be caught out.

Many thanks for your continued support.
