We have just had the following information in regarding green waste collections:
An update from Cotswold District Council
Collection of green waste is suspended with immediate effect due to a shortage of crews. We fully realise that this is a service for which you pay. As the current license which was due to run out at the end of March was extended to the end of May Andrew Doherty, the Cabinet member for Waste, Flooding and Environment, has calculated you will lose out 57p per bin. As these circumstances are beyond CDC’s control you will not receive a refund.
This is their further advice:
– People should increase their home composting and/or reduce the amount of garden waste produced
– Lawns are the usual problem
– mowing less, planting more wildflower meadow areas
– leaving more areas to grow long and only picking up the cuttings every other mow (which lets it dry on the ground before it goes in the compost) all help. If residents don’t have a compost heap now would be an excellent time to start one
