“This will be the final LEP newsletter of the year, and what a year it has been.
What a shocker for so many people, but what has been a surprise is the resilience of many of our businesses and indeed the agility of many who have had to reset their business plans to adapt to many new situations.
GFirst LEP has been supporting throughout alongside our Growth Hub colleagues.
Whilst it is easy to dwell on the downsides of 2020 there has been success for the LEP too, as we successfully achieved £11.3 million for projects within our county to stimulate economic recovery.
And we must not forget the economic opportunity of Cyber in years to come.
I would like to say a huge, huge thanks to the GFirst LEP team who have been amazing through the entire pandemic piece. Whether that be supporting businesses and their employees in their time of need in these uncertain times, whether that be working collaboratively with ALL our Gloucestershire partners in order to have a cohesive approach to economic recovery and not forgetting that the team has done all of this remotely and virtually.
I would also like to thank the LEP Board for their unswaying support for the LEP and all that it has achieved in 2020, for their “extra” time for many unscheduled Board meetings in order to work out our strategy and next steps for economic recovery.
We still have a long way to go but there is that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel and Gloucestershire really is in safe hands with its LEP leading us through to the other side.”
