Despite the mixed messages in the media, it’s important to remember that we are still in lockdown. This effectively means we are in the same position as we were on 23rd March.
The Government is telling people to keep obeying lockdown rules this VE Day bank holiday, despite the forecast of sunny weather in some areas. It comes after newspaper reports earlier this week suggested some measures could be eased on Monday, and concerns were raised the public may be getting “mixed messages”.
It’s frustrating to see the pontificating in the media and it is easy to see why people think things have changed. All the questions of how might lockdown end? What you can expect when the lockdown lifts. It’s all conjecture.
We are still in lockdown.
As of 7th May there are 1,268 confirmed cases in Gloucestershire (and it’s likely to be much higher) with sadly 203 deaths.
Do not make the mistake of thinking this is over. There’s still a long way to go and if we all ignore the advice from Government and begin to venture outside, this could result in a spike in cases 2 – 3 weeks time. Think before you step outside.
