Things to Do in Chipping Campden During Your Visit or Stay
There are so many things to do in Chipping Campden that it can be difficult to know where to start. Hopefully, we can ignite your imagination and help you make the most of your stay in the area or if you’re just visiting for a day out.
Chipping Campden has a lot to offer and in itself is a beautiful market town. At its centre in the market square is the beautiful Market Hall built by Sir Baptist Hicks (a wealthy wool merchant) in 1627 and now protected by the National Trust. One of the best things to do in Chipping Campden is simply to marvel at this piece of history surrounded by independent shops and modern times and yet strangely it doesn’t look out of place.
Close by to the central location is Grevel House (built by William Grevel), the Almshouses, St. James Church and Old Campden House, all offer a stunning view of times gone by. You can also visit Cotswold House, the Noel Arms, the Eight Bells and the Volunteer Inn all within walking distance along Chipping Campden High Street.
As well as beautiful architecture, Chipping Campden has beautiful gardens including Kiftsgate Court Gardens (nearby) and an annual Chipping Campden Open Gardens festival which is popular with many. Make sure you don’t miss out on Batsford Arboretum either.
From the town centre, Dover’s Hill (the home of Robert Dover’s Games) is not far to walk and Broadway Tower is also a popular landmark with a fantastic view of the area and a lovely afternoon’s walk too. If you’re feeling really adventurous then Chipping Campden is also the starting point of the Cotswold Way National Trail which takes you past Cotswold Cottages, beautiful hills and through to Bath.
