Chipping Campden’s Annual Assembly will take place on Tuesday 23rd April 2019 at 7.30pm in the Town Hall.
This year’s event will follow a different format with the emphasis being on public participation and all residents are invited to come along and make their views known. Our special guests will be Campden Edge.
Campden Edge is a youth arts charity set up to provide financial support to young people (8 -26) who live or are educated in Campden and the surrounding area. The fund helps students pursue an artistic talent or interest that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.
Currently Campden Edge is supporting 15 drama, music and dance students with regular lessons; the charity also awards one off grants to assist with costs. Most recently we have helped with art supplies, music lessons and a dance workshop. Applicants and their families value the support we offer and the very positive impact the arts have on the overall wellbeing of the students and the opportunities the fund provides.
They also support the local schools’ arts provision to relieve their over stretched budgets. This financial year they have supplied English Set Texts and GCSE Revision Guides for students and have paid for 46 theatre tickets across primary and secondary schools.
John Sanderson, Head Teacher at Chipping Campden School, said this week: “a massive ‘Thank you’ to Campden Edge whose fundraising and support of students in the school is making a real and significant difference to equality of access to, and experience of, the Arts at CCS.”Set up in 2013, Campden Edge is run by volunteers who believe passionately in the benefit of the arts to young people. The trustees include Craig Webb, the General Manager of The Cotswold House and Noel Arms Hotels. These businesses actively support us with fundraising initiatives. We also raise money by hosting events such as concerts, dances, and comedy nights; collection boxes in local shops; giving talks to local societies; and we receive donations from generous individuals. We are grateful for the support of Chipping Campden Open Gardens Weekend from whom we receive 50% of their profits; and we were delighted to win the Community Group Award at the Chipping Campden Business Forum Awards in November 2018.
